# Contract Scout

> Configure Civic AI Contract Scout — email notifications when new government solicitations match your saved searches and criteria.

Scout keeps your team ahead of deadlines. When Civic AI indexes a new opportunity that matches a saved search, you receive a notification with enough context to decide quickly whether to pursue.

## Set up Scout

    Make sure someone on the capture team is responsible for triaging each Scout stream.

## Scout hygiene

  Review Scout quality monthly. Pause or narrow searches that produce irrelevant results — noise causes teams to ignore notifications entirely.

| Problem                | Fix                                                       |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| Too many notifications | Add geography, NAICS keywords, or set-aside filters       |
| Missing opportunities  | Broaden one saved search; add a second for adjacent NAICS |
| Duplicate notices      | Consolidate overlapping saved searches                    |

## From Scout to pursuit

When a Scout notification arrives:

1. Open the result and read deadline + set-aside + agency
2. Run a quick go/no-go (fit, capacity, past performance)
3. Add qualified opportunities to [Pipeline](/pursuits/pipeline)
4. Click through to the source portal for the full RFP
