# Contract awards

> Search and analyze government contract awards in Civic AI for competitive intelligence — incumbents, pricing signals, and market share by agency and NAICS.

Contract awards tell you who won, how much they were paid, and which agencies buy what you sell. Use award search in Civic AI for competitive intelligence before you bid — or when shaping teaming and pricing strategy.

## What you can learn from awards

| Question | How awards help |
| ------------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Who is the incumbent? | Identify the vendor to displace on a recompete |
| What do agencies actually buy? | See real NAICS/PSC mix, not just forecast data |
| Who are the frequent winners? | Find primes and subs active in your market |
| Is this market growing? | Track award volume and dollars over time |

## Federal vs. state/local awards

**Federal awards** from USAspending include recipient name, UEI, agency, NAICS, contract value, and period of performance for most prime contracts.

**State and local awards** vary by portal. Civic AI normalizes what each source publishes; some fields may be sparse compared to federal data.
